Cable Lug Cross-Reference
Compression cable lugs are matched by conductor cross-section (mm²) and stud hole (M6, M8, M10, M12, M16), then by type: standard copper tube lugs to DIN 46235 (KR / KRT / KRF), narrow-palm and 90° angled versions (KRTS, KR-90), aluminium/copper bimetallic lugs for aluminium conductors (AKK), insulated ring terminals for small sections and pin terminals. Elpress, Abiko (Klauke), Melbye and Amokabel tube lugs of the same section and stud are interchangeable with the correct die; the crimping tool and die code differ by make and must follow the lug manufacturer’s table. The table lists the catalogue by type, section and stud with one column per make.
Use the die and tool the lug manufacturer specifies for the section — hexagonal crimping (DIN 46235 lugs) and indent crimping are not interchangeable. Bimetallic lugs must be used for aluminium conductors to prevent galvanic corrosion at the terminal; a copper lug on aluminium is not permitted. Tin-plated copper lugs suit outdoor and marine terminations.
