Material certificates

Material certificates per EN 10204 are passed through from the OEM when the manufacturer holds them for the specific item. Type 3.1 (test certificate signed by the manufacturer's authorised inspector) is the common type for raw materials, fittings, fasteners and pressure-containing parts.

Type 3.2 (counter-signed by an independent inspector or classification society) is only supplied when the OEM already holds a 3.2 for the specific lot — a 3.2 is not created at cBallast; it is issued by the OEM's inspection body against a specific production run.

Type 2.1 declaration of compliance and type 2.2 test report are supplied for items where the OEM issues them.

Where the OEM does not publish EN 10204 documentation for a given item, cBallast states that on the quotation rather than substitute a lower-tier document as if it were a 3.1.

Classification societies

Type approvals carried on listed items, where applicable. The product page or quotation states the specific approval reference (cert. number, validity, scope).

Hazardous-area (Ex) equipment

ATEX (EU Directive 2014/34/EU) and IECEx (international scheme) certificates are passed through from the OEM for items where the manufacturer publishes them. Each carries the equipment group (II for surface industries, I for mining), category (1 / 2 / 3), zone (0, 1, 2 for gas; 20, 21, 22 for dust), gas group (IIA / IIB / IIC), temperature class (T1 – T6) and ingress protection (IPxx).

Notified-body number on the certificate (e.g. PTB, DEKRA, INERIS, SIRA, BASEEFA) is listed on the product page where the manufacturer publishes it.

IECEx, NEC 500/505 (UL) and CCC-Ex (China) equivalents are supplied where the OEM holds the additional certification — state the required scheme on the RFQ so we can confirm before quoting.

Pressure equipment

Items under PED 2014/68/EU (EU pressure equipment) are supplied with the manufacturer's declaration of conformity, CE mark, category I-IV reference and the assigned conformity-assessment module.

ASME Section VIII U-stamp pressure vessels and Section IX welded joints are supplied with the manufacturer data report. Section II material certificates (SA-105, SA-106, SA-182 F316L, etc.) accompany pressure-containing fittings on request.

API monogrammed items (API 6A, API 6D, API 600, API 602, API 607, API 609) carry the licence number on the body and the QA-1 quality plan reference on the certificate.

Marine equipment directive (MED)

Wheelmark items (lifesaving, fire protection, navigation, radio and marine pollution prevention under MED 2014/90/EU) are supplied with the EU-declaration of conformity, notified-body reference and the wheelmark certificate. The product page lists the MED annex and item number where applicable.

Country of origin

Certificates of origin (CO) on the chamber-of-commerce form and EUR.1 movement certificates are supplied on request per consignment, subject to the origin the OEM declares. The CO references the HS code on the commercial invoice.

IMPA / ISSA part-number conventions

IMPA codes follow the IMPA Marine Stores Guide 7th edition numbering. Where an IMPA code is held against a SKU the product page shows the IMPA field next to the OEM part number; quotations and invoices reference both.

ISSA codes (International Ship Suppliers & Services Association) are listed where they differ from IMPA. The two coding systems are kept side-by-side - never substituted - so a shipboard storekeeper using an IMPA-only stocklist and a purchaser using an ISSA-only stocklist both find the same SKU.

Quality system

cBallast does not hold an ISO 9001 certificate in its own right. Traceability and quality documentation are passed through from OEMs and authorised distributors that operate under their own certified quality management systems. Where a buyer requires ISO 9001 supply, cBallast confirms the source's certification before quoting.

Reference standards

Items are supplied to the standard stated on the product page - DIN, ISO, EN, ASTM, ASME, JIS, BS, GB or OEM. Where multiple standards apply (DIN 933 + ISO 4017 + EN 24017 for the same hex bolt geometry, for example) every applicable standard is listed and the certificate names the one the manufacturer tested against.
