Motor Protection Circuit Breaker Cross-Reference
A motor protection circuit breaker combines short-circuit protection, adjustable thermal overload protection and manual switching in one unit. Selection is by the current setting range, which must contain the motor full-load current, and by the frame size, which sets the maximum rating and the accessories (auxiliary contacts, undervoltage release, enclosures). Ranges follow the same 1.6 : 1 steps across makers — 0.1–0.16 A up to 25–32 A in the small frames (Schneider GV2ME/GV2P, Siemens 3RV2011 S00 and 3RV2021 S0, Eaton PKZM0, ABB MS116/MS132) and 9–13 A up to 62–73 A in the medium frames (GV3P, 3RV2031/2041, PKZM4, MS165). The table lists the catalogue by upper setting current with one column per make; the exact range of each device is given on its product page.
Set the dial to the motor full-load current from the nameplate, not to the maximum of the range; the magnetic trip is fixed at about 13 × the upper setting. Devices of different makes are not mechanically compatible with each other’s contactor links, busbar adapters or enclosures. Type 2 coordination (no damage after a short circuit) is only guaranteed for the breaker–contactor pairs published by each manufacturer.
Coverage: 408 catalogue rows with a readable rating, of 1,056 in these categories. Each cell lists up to 5 part numbers per column; click a part number for the product page and a quotation.
Part numbers and designations are those of the original manufacturers and are given for identification. cBallast is an independent supplier; confirm ratings against the nameplate of the installed equipment before ordering. Table generated from the cBallast catalogue on 2026-09-29.
