Loctite LB 8040 (known as Freeze & Release) is a mineral-oil aerosol formulated to free rusted, corroded and seized parts. The shock-freezing effect of the lubricant stream chills the part to around -43 degC, causing microscopic cracks in the rust layer; the lubricating ingredients then wick into the rust by capillary action. Released parts remain lubricated and protected from further corrosion. A typical maintenance critical spare for releasing seized fasteners, pins and fittings.
