Product Description
Loctite 496 is a low-viscosity, one-part cyanoacrylate instant adhesive formulated for the bonding of metals. It gives rapid fixturing and high strength on close-fitting metal joints and is intended for thin bond gaps. Used by maintenance technicians and installation crews across industrial, marine and construction service.
Technical Specifications
- Technology cyanoacrylate; chemical type methyl cyanoacrylate; appearance transparent, colorless liquid; one part, requires no mixing; low viscosity; cure by humidity; application bonding; optimised for metal substrates. Typical uncured properties
- viscosity Brookfield 25 degC spindle 1 / 30 rpm 100 to 120 mPa.s (cP); cone and plate 25 degC 70 to 120 mPa.s. Glass transition temperature ASTM E 228 165 degC. Typical cured performance, lap shear strength ISO 4587 after 24 hours @ 22 degC on grit-blasted steel 20 to 30 N/mm2 (2,900 to 4,350 psi). Formulated for thin bond gaps (0.05 mm). Excess adhesive can be removed with Loctite cleanup solvent, nitromethane or acetone. PDF file (TDS) attached. 20 g bottle.
