Eaton xEffect FRCdM Residual Current Circuit Breaker (RCCB) — Type B, 4-Pole, 63 A, 300 mA, Short-Time Delayed

The Eaton FRCDM-63/4/03-G/B is a residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) from the Moeller series xEffect FRCdM range. It disconnects the circuit when the current flowing out does not match the current returning — the signature of a fault to earth, whether through failed insulation or through a person. It provides no overcurrent protection of its own and is installed together with the circuit's MCB or fuse. This device is 4-pole, rated 63 A, with a rated residual current of 300 mA. Type B responds to all forms of residual current — AC, pulsating DC and smooth DC — up to 1 kHz. It is required wherever a fault can present a smooth DC residual current that would blind a type A device, which in practice means circuits fed through frequency converters, rectifiers, EV chargers and photovoltaic inverters. It is the G (short-time delayed) version, which rides through the brief leakage surges that switching and cable capacitance produce at energisation instead of tripping on them. At 300 mA it is intended for protection against earth-fault fire and for equipment protection, not for protection against direct contact — that requires a 30 mA device.
