Greene Tweed Chemraz 605 perfluoroelastomer (FFKM) O-ring — the higher-temperature and superior-physicals sibling of Chemraz 505 (see companion 505 product page). Verified physical spec (Greene Tweed Chemraz 605 product bulletin + Marco Rubber datasheet + Global O-Ring + Canyon Components technical data): Shore A 80 durometer (ASTM D2240), specific gravity 1.97 g/cc (ASTM D297), tensile strength at break 14.8 MPa / 2,150 psi (ASTM D1414), elongation at break 130 percent, tensile modulus at 50 percent elongation 2.9 MPa / 420 psi, tensile modulus at 100 percent elongation 9.03 MPa / 1,310 psi, compression set approximately 20 percent at 70 hours / 400 F (204 C) on AS568-214 (ASTM D395 assumed method). Colour: black. Service temperature range: -20 C to +260 C (-4 F to +500 F). IMPORTANT — the 325 C+ high-temperature range belongs to Chemraz 615 (up to ~325 C / 620 F), NOT to Chemraz 605. Do not specify 605 for service above +260 C continuous. Positioning vs Chemraz 505 (the universal grade): 605 carries the SAME broad Chemraz chemical-resistance envelope as 505 — acids, caustics, aldehydes, esters, ethers, aromatics, hot water, steam, amines, methanol, ketones, TBA and MTBE — but with SUPERIOR compression-set resistance and BEST-IN-FAMILY behaviour in high-temperature steam and hot water above 300 F. Choose 605 over 505 when the seal must survive extended high-temperature-steam / hot-water duty with minimum compression-set relaxation over the service life. Applications specific to Chemraz 605 (per Marco Rubber and Greene Tweed application notes): mechanical seals, pump housings, valves, reactors, compressors, sampling and metering equipment — the general chemical-process duty shared with 505 — PLUS (a differentiator from 505) IVD (in-vitro diagnostic) instrumentation, histology equipment, analytical instrumentation and laboratory sample-handling. Chemraz 605 is NOT a rapid-gas-decompression / sour-service grade (that is Chemraz 526 or 615/635 for HPHT oil-and-gas) and NOT a semiconductor plasma-etch grade (those are Chemraz 513 / 520 / 629 / SSD family). Verified certifications for Chemraz 605: USP Class VI compliance (NAMSA-tested per Greene Tweed's life-sciences datasheet). NOT verified for Chemraz 605: FDA 21 CFR 177.2600, EU 1935/2004, NORSOK M-710, NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156. Do NOT specify Chemraz 605 for FDA-regulated food contact, NORSOK sour-service or NACE-regulated oil-and-gas applications without a Greene Tweed compliance letter for the specific batch — the correct grades for those regulatory scopes are Chemraz 585 (FDA / USP Class VI white) and Chemraz 526 (RGD / sour-service). Cross-reference to DuPont / Chemours Kalrez: Chemraz 605 corresponds to KALREZ 6375 (75-80A black, max ~275 C, universal chemical-service grade) — this is the most common industry-accepted 605 substitute. Note: an earlier catalog description referenced Kalrez 7075 as the 605 substitute; that is INCORRECT — Kalrez 7075 is a low-compression-set hydrocarbon-service grade (max ~327 C) with different positioning. Use Kalrez 6375. Cross-reference to Freudenberg Simriz: no single Simriz grade is a direct one-to-one Chemraz 605 substitute; consult supplier for the specific chemistry and temperature envelope required. Cross-reference to Solvay / Precision Polymer Engineering (PPE) Perlast: no verified direct one-to-one Perlast substitute for Chemraz 605; consult PPE for the closest match per specific service. NOTE: some legacy references cite Perlast G92T as a 605 equivalent — that specific mapping is unverified and Perlast G92E (verified) is an EnDura RGD oilfield grade at 72 Shore A / +250 C which does not match Chemraz 605's chemical / high-temperature-steam positioning.
