Reference table of the most-used HS codes for marine and industrial parts under the WCO Harmonised System 2022 nomenclature. Covers bearings (8482), pumps and compressors (8413, 8414), valves (8481), electric motors and drives (8501, 8504), electrical apparatus (8535, 8536, 8537, 8544), instruments (9026, 9027, 9032), fasteners (7318), gaskets and seals (4016, 8484), refrigeration components (8415, 8418), and safety equipment (6203, 6506, 8531). Includes chapter-note references and origin-rule tips relevant to EUR.1 / GSP declaration.
Why HS codes matter for spare-parts procurement
Every physical item crossing a customs border carries a Harmonised System (HS) code — a six-digit numeric identifier assigned by the World Customs Organization. National customs authorities extend the code to 8 or 10 digits for tariff and statistical purposes. The HS code drives import duty, VAT calculation, origin-rule qualification, and any anti-dumping or safeguard measure that might apply. Getting the code right at requisition time is far cheaper than reclassifying at goods-in.

Origin-rule note
A part's HS code is only one input to duty calculation. The declared country of origin (per EN 12251-1 / EN 12251-2 or the applicable trade agreement's origin rules) determines whether preferential duty rates apply. A EUR.1 certificate is issued by the exporter's customs authority to prove EU origin under an EU FTA; a GSP Form A applies to less-developed country origin under the Generalised System of Preferences. Getting both the HS code and the origin proof right at shipment time is the difference between paying 0% and 8-14% import duty on the same physical item.
