Loctite 561 PST is a one-component anaerobic thread sealant supplied as a wax-like semi-solid in a self-feeding applicator stick. It is designed for the locking and sealing of pre-torqued metal pipes and fittings where a conventional liquid or paste product would be difficult to use. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage from shock and vibration. It develops a controlled low strength to facilitate later disassembly, and fluoresces under UV light for coverage inspection.
| Technology acrylic; chemical type methacrylate ester; appearance uncured off-white, wax consistency; form stick; positive fluorescence under UV light; one component, requires no mixing; cure anaerobic; application thread sealing; strength low. Self-feeding stick allows direct application to threads with no drip; develops controlled low strength to facilitate disassembly | |
| Typical uncured properties | specific gravity @ 25 degC 1.14; unworked penetration ISO 2137 80 to 140 (1/10 mm); melting point greater than 80 degC. Cured strength developed in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces; breakloose torque tested to ASTM D 6396 on 3/8 in malleable iron pipe tees and steel plugs pre-torqued to 27 N.m. NSF International certified to ANSI/NSF Standard 61 for use in commercial and residential potable-water systems not exceeding 82 degC. For maximum pressure and solvent resistance allow at least 24 hours to fully cure before pressurising the system. PDF file (TDS) attached. 19 g stick. |
