A built-in differential-pressure controller keeps the flow through the settable orifice constant regardless of pressure fluctuations elsewhere in the network, so each terminal delivers its design flow without manual re-balancing; the presetting dial fixes the maximum flow (settable) and the valve also acts as a shut-off.
