Automatic wiper rod for Hanovia medium-pressure ultraviolet disinfection systems, part 320300-1072. This is the motor-driven equivalent of the manual rod: the wiper travels the quartz sleeve on a timer set in the controller, with no operator intervention. The quartz sleeve is the only optical path between the lamp and the water, so any film of scale or iron on its outer surface cuts the delivered UV dose. The wiper sweeps the sleeve on a timed cycle to keep transmission at the design figure. On systems fitted with an automatic wiper the drive motor, limit switch and bearing housing are separate items.
