3M Scotch 23 is a black self-amalgamating ethylene-propylene rubber high-voltage tape supplied 19 mm wide by 9 m long with a release liner. The tape fuses on itself under stretch and pressure to form a void-free insulating and sealing mass for splices and terminations. It is used with a jacketing tape on cable splices, connector insulation and moisture sealing on medium- and high-voltage joints. Typical service is on power cables, bus bars and irregular shapes requiring conformable insulation.
